ROYAL SADDLERY ROOM
Sala Real Guarnicionería
The Royal Saddlery collection includes extraordinary oriental-style saddles and various sets of harnesses: French gala, Andalusian buggy and English stroller.
Along with the Mamluk saddles are harnesses used: for ceremonial purposes in Versailles; for the royal wedding of the Duke of Montpensier with the Infanta Luisa Fernanda, Queen Isabel II of Spain’s saddle; and the livery worn by servants in the hunt and in the Andalusian palaces of the Montpensier. Also noteworthy is the Turkish-style saddlery that, thanks to the French generals and the sultans of the Sublime Port and of Egypt, were introduced in the Parisian workshops of the 19th century.
